Hi Ed. For the record I thought you might be interested to learn that I have discovered what was causing the problem of my big avatar. If you recall, I soved it by using "Refresh Firefox" which removed many things that I've had to replace and one of them was an spellchecker addon called Grammarly.

I re-installed it this morning and blow me, the large avatar returned, I searched the internet and there are stories of other people having issues with this addon. I removed it and the avatar went immediately back to normal.

I have deliberately chanced my arm and installed 'Grammarly' and knocked-out, temporarily, for test purposes, the Dictionary I have installed in Firefox. Also, I made a few spelling errors, which were corrected by the 'Add-on'.

Let's see what happens when I post with my favourite Browser...Firefox.

All very strange because 'Grammarly' appears to work alright on my PC which is operating on Windows 7. What is your Operating System, Khandro.?

Firefox's native spellchecker is good enough for me!

Hans, I'm on Windows 10
Chris. I have installed the firefox spellchecker but how does it work please? If I write the word Komplicated Grammarly would have underlined it but nothing seems to happen

For some strange reason I've not yet fathomed, Khandro, the 'British' version of Firefox sometimes seems to automatically spellcheck whereas other installations require you to install the relevant dictionary first.

If your version of Firefox isn't automatically spellchecking, click the 'hamburger' (three lines, top right) and then on 'Add-ons'. Click 'Extensions', type 'British English' in the search box and hit Enter. The top entry will probably be 'British English Dictionary R1.19 for Firefox . . .' Click the 'Install' button next to it.

Alternatively you might see 'British English Dictionary (Marco Pinto)' listed. I've no idea why different options appear on different computers but, if that's what you see, install that instead.

Spellchecking should then be enabled. If it's not, go to 'Hamburger' > Options > Advanced > General and put a tick next to 'Check my spelling as I type'.

Chris; Somewhere along the way I have clicked on 'Chambers Dictionary' and now whenever I try to look up something on the internet I get Chambers Dictionary page saying '404, page not found'
Any idea how to prevent this please?

I'm just back from the pub, so probably not best-equipped to answer your question at the moment. However my first thought is to take a look at your extensions to see if Chambers is mentioned there. (Hamburger > Add-ons > Extensions again). If so, simply click 'Remove'.

Chris, When you've recovered, I now have no access to the internet because of chambers dictionary, (as above). Going crazy, I could try system restore but would have to start everything all over again.

Chris; Sleep on in peace, I have solved the problem. Any request for a website was somehow being searched for by Chambers instead of Google.
