How Do I - Transfer Stuff From Old Moto G2 To Moto G5S Mobile Phone

Finally took plunge and bought Moto G5S 32Gb/3Gb RAM (Black Friday John Lewis Deal £179) to replace my Moto G2 8GB/1GB RAM. Limited memory on G2 main reason - (previous posts!).
I need to transfer whatever is on G2 to G5. Not sure how to do this. I've learned that Motorola had an app called migrate which made the job a doddle - great for non techie people like me!! Sadly they ceased support about two years ago and they suggest third party apps such as "copy my data", "Phone Copier" or "Sharelt" - as expected they are unable to endorse these. Has anyone tried using these apps or can recommend any other, or any other way to transfer stuff over?

I "think" my contacts are all stored via Google. Despite searching for how to see what the SIM has on it, I cannot find a way on the G2. Unlike other phones like Samsung, when you go in to contacts, it does not give options on where to "save" them to eg phone or sim. Makes me think simply stored via Google account.
To "increase" memory on old phone I added a 32Gb SD Card not realising you cannot save most apps to it despite formatting it as "internal memory". I have now copied all photos from SD card to Laptop and deleted from the card. If I remove the SD Card from old phone, will the remaining miscellaneous stuff saved on the card - a few apps, whatsapp images etc still be viewable in the new phone.

Like I say, I'm not that tech savvy, so any help appreciated. New phone currently on charge!!

Having had all of the moto g phones up until moto 4, I was going to say Migrate is the simplest option. But as you have rightly stated, migrate is no longer supported.
After searching around I have found an answer from a Motorola support agent ... someone asked the same question and the answer was "to use one of the third party apps."
Not really very helpfull as most of them come with advertising .. sorry!

Regarding the SD card, yes you will be able to view your files, music and photos on your new phone.

Have you logged in to your google account on your new phone?

Have you put your old SIM card in your new phone?

Have checked out both links. Bit unsure about the link from Bazile as bit confusing as it refers to Android (Samsung) suggesting only Samsung supported, but later suggests ok for any android. Looks like you have to pay for it too, which wasn't expecting.
Alavahalf link brings up a fair few possibles so I guess I'll have to try one of these. Ideally hoping to hear from anyone who has tried a copying app if possible

HC4361 thanks. My new phone arrived today and is still on charge so have not yet done anything with it. Thought I would need info on how to transfer stuff over etc. I'm wondering if you are suggesting certain things will be "saved" in my Google account and thus will immediately be there on new phone once I register my google email address to it? What about things like text messages and anything else that (I presume) is not saved in my Google account

Everything google should appear by magic on your new phone when you log in, including all your contacts, your calendar, emails etc.
Your text messages might be there, but hopefully they will be on the SIM card.
The apps you downloaded to your old phone can be downloaded again to the new one, if you paid for any you won't have to pay again

I am using Google drive to copy the data from my old phone, and then sync the data to new phone directly. MobiKin transfer for mobile is also possible, and worths to pay. Or you can search the mobile transfer tool on Google play.
