I keep getting emails on our work email
(my husband runs a business) and it says its from BT. Our email address ends in @btconnect.com which of course is free.
Other than that we dont have any accounts with BT. Our internet and phone is
Plusnet and we don't have it for TV either. I suspect these email messages to be a scam,
but now they keep saying if we dont update our account the whole email account will be deactivated in 2 days - 14th August. It says there has been an update to their terms and Conditions. I have never heard of this happening to anyone else who has an email account which makes me suspicious. Now Im beginning to worry supposing it isnt a scam,
and they delete all our email account.
Alot of our customers and suppliers only communicate by email. But I dont want to press the link in case it is an Scam! Any help appreciated Thanks

Does the email address you by name? Does it show your account number?
Does this help? https://www.bt.com/static/includes/account/portal/email_genuine/
Another thought - I assume you used to get your internet through BT.
If you move to another provider you are supposed to upgrade the BT email to their 'premium service' which has a monthly fee. Does this apply to you? When did you leave BT internet?

We left BT about 2 years ago now Barry. And before that when the email address was set up we werent even with BT, but another company and it all worked fine for years. But our email is fairly basic, no frills that I can see!
it is a scam
I am getting them on btinternet.com

Dont press the button - - - dont press the button

if necessary - re access BT on the internet

that goes also for Prime ( terrible) and telephone BT
There is a very basic free email service that BT provides so maybe you have that.
As you've had the email address for some years and still use I think it highly unlikely that BT is going to delete your account. I think it is a scam but can understand your concern.
