How old is your vacuum cleaner ?

My daughter asked to borrow ours because her's has broken down 

It got me thinking that we bought ours (a Vorwerk - cleaner and vacuum combination) ,about 30 years  ago and it's still going strong - touch wood 

I remember being mad at er indoors at the time for spending so much folding - around £500 on the machine.

We have my grandparents very old Hoover senior in the loft somewhere and I think it still works but not for a long time.

Mine's probably around 30 years.  It's an upright but the middle lifts out to use on the stairs - still going strong, no problems.  It's got a clear bin, no bag.  We paid around £90 for it

My Miele Cat & Dog cylinder is probably 20 years old and the best vacuum by a million miles I've ever used. I've also had a Dyson (abominable), GTech and have a Shark cordless which is good for a quick suck of the carpet (useless on hard floors).

None of them come close for suction and cleaning efficiency as the Miele. It's major downfall for me now is it's really heavy to lug around.

I have a cordless Dyson which I bought 5-6 years ago. Before that we had an upright Dyson and before that, a regular pull along vacuum with bags.

No idea how long I've had mine - who retains a note of when they bought a vacuum cleaner ?
