This has disappeared off latest posts now so posts may not be seen by Mods. Maybe a new thread  is needed for reporting spam

Hi. Yes, I found it and had posted  a couple on there earlier, but unless mods go looking for the thread any reports will probably not be seen. It's better if the thread appears on Latest Posts so a mod may see it.

Thanks gylly- I suppose this thread can be used for reporting, but it's better to come from the ed and to have a yellow  sticky label like the last one

Apologies NMA

I thought you couldn't find it

I understand now what you mean yes would be good if it appeared in latest posts.

It strikes me as not required, given that spam appears in Latest Posts anyway and is generally obvious or if veiled only attracts an 'I'm watching' from the usual suspects.

I agree to an extent douglas... spam in latest Posts is usually obvious, but when the Wordle/Waffle and obernight News posts start to come in in the morning the spam can soon fall off latest posts...but so can the Eds Blog spam posts. Really it would be better if the techies to automate the detection- eg links in title box, key words filter, more than 3 posts in a couple of minutes from a  newcomer- that sort of thing. I'm sure TTT could set it up in minutes if given access to the code...

Question Author

Another for the Mods - this one not so obvious from Latest Posts

I look in the dedicated spammer thread fairly regularly, and other mods are obviously doing likewise.  I think it's working fine as it is.

I too look in the Spammers thread regularly. You can tell it works fine as it is because the posts get deleted.

No need for change

Setting up filters to block spam wouldn't work for various reasons.

Best not try then.

Question Author

All's good then.  I'll just avoid AnswerBank between 5 and 6:30 am knowing that Latest Posts being cluttered up by spam, unless a mod happens to check in, is unavoidable.

Another thread dedicated to spam reports wouldn't alter that.  They'd still be cluttering up latest posts until a mod arrives to zap them.
