I'm Finding It Very Difficult To Watch The News Now

I've always watched - all through Covid, reports of which I called the Misery Hour - but now there doesn't seem to be anything positive  at all.  It's all so gloomy, I find myself watching the headlines and switching to something more pleasant.  Does anyone else find it all utterly depressing?

I completely agree.  I used to be a 'news junkie' but now find all bulletins an unremitting misery, especially the past couple of days with the extensive coverage of the rise in all bills.

Well, at least the sun is shining....

Dont watch it. Ignorance is bliss.

I don't bother watching now unless something exceptional happens - it's all doom and gloom.  I used to criticise the US news programmes as being too shallow and not focusing on one subject too long but I prefer that format now.  Much more bright and breezy

Yes, totally .....I gave up watching news programming ages ago, I'm quite happy in my ignorance 😳

n. from my other thread;

 I really enjoyed reading this today, maybe you will too;

I attempt to avoid the news as much as possible. Too often news from the wrong source will have me audibly gasping and wondering what the world is coming to.

But, I do keep my eye on the horrors on the other side of the pond. That leaves me feeling helpless.

I used to watch Channel 4 news while having my tea but haven't done so for ages. Got fed up of politicians of all flavours merely spouting their party's official mantra instead of answering questions posed by the interviewer.

Whatever happened to the "and finally..."? At least that was 2 minutes of smiling.

The headlines are definitely depressing and there doesn't seem to be a hint of any nastiness ending.

I'm the same, I watch as little news as possible lately.  Personal depression aside, I'm upset & miserable enough about the state of the world & the lunatics in charge of it & I've no desire to make myself feel worse.

I read somewhere recently re Trump (responsible for so much of the depressing news) something which made me smile:

When a clown moves into a palace he doesn't become a king; the palace becomes a circus.

I can't watch anything about politics.. Trump, Starmer, etc. etc.  also football.  Also all the wars going on in the world.  I don't mind a bit of gossip e.g. Harry and MeAgain, or anything about the Royals.  Plenty on the other channels.

Gave up on the news long ago - I realised knowing didn't mean I could do anything about iylt

It isn't just the news, my TV hasn't been on for the past two weeks. The programmes are dire.

It was the incessant Covid propoganda that make us think again and promptly cancel the Lefty tv tax.

Never looked back, dont mis the drivel at all. They only tell you the bits that suit their own agenda (whichever way) so you are still non the wiser really at the end of it.

IMHO MSM has had its day.  Too many lies and subdefusion.

It's only good these days when Elon is firing some more wokies.
