Ebay International Sales
4 Answers
I've recently started selling things on Ebay but it seems that there are a lot of Nigerian scams going on asking people to post things abroad. The person buying my item wants it sent to Amsterdam or Nigeria. I'm wondering how genuine this offer actually is. I'd be grateful if anyone with a similar experience could advise me accordingly. They are paying by Paypal so I wonder if it's a genuine offer.

What is the buyer's feedback like? If they have only just registered be VERY wary. Paypal is not necessarily safe as the person could just do a chargeback and get their money back. This ebay board at www.moneysavingexpert.com is very good. There are lots of experienced sellers there who could give you advice.
I go along with what Hermia said - be very wary. Also, take a look at the discussion boards on eBay itself. Click on Community and you'll be presented with lots of different areas, some for the novice eBayer who wants to know what it's all about, and others for the experienced eBayer who wants specific help in various specific areas (selling internationally, sourcing products, postage costs, dealing with non-paying bidders, whatever). You can learn a whole lot about eBay just by browsing through the messages on the boards - you don't have to post a message, you can just 'listen in'. Oh, that's right, they call it 'lurking'! Sounds a bit iffy, but they can't do you for it!
