BT Broadband Part 1

I have spent ages looking at old replies about BT Broadband, but nothing seems to fit my problem. I keep losing my BT Broadband connection and BT, so far, have not been able to help. I can sometimes have a connection for anything up to an hour, but sometimes I can't get online at all. It is entirely intermittent with no pattern and can happen on any web site. I never can stay on line for any amount of time. I used to just leave the computer on over night, but over the last few days, an hour is about best. The modem lights up OK, (power and DSL lights are green), and the small window pops up and says that I am connected, but the Google homepage says I am working offline. If I try and connect, sometimes I am lucky, other times I am not.
