Wireless broadband problem

I hope someone can help me please with this frustrating problem!

I bought a BT Voyager 2091 wireless router and installed it following the instructions. I also bought a 802.11g USB wireless adapter for my PC and installed the driver.

The router seems to be working fine because I can connect to broadband from my laptop, when I enter the WEP encryption key. Also, when I try to connect to broadband from my PC, everything seems fine - the wireless adapter software tells me that I'm connected.

BUT when I try to go to my internet homepage, it won't open, and my emails won't download. So my PC seems to be connected to broadband but Internet Explorer and Outlook won't download any data - infuriating1

Has anyone perhaps encountered the same problem and found a solution?

Within IE and Outlook you still need to configure the details that allow you to connect to your ISP's servers. You will need an account and password, plus the actual names or IPs of the servers. The ISP should provide all the details.

Have you done all the above?

If yes, then possibly the setup of IP in the computer's Network Connection is incorrect. Again, does it all tally with the settings from the ISP?
It sounds like a DNS problem.

From your laptop, goto a command prompt and type:

ipconfig /all

Then do the same on your PC.

The only difference in the resulting information should be the IP Address (Should be almost the same but not quite).

Sorry, the description and Physical Address will differ also.

Thanks for your answers people.

What I have now discovered is that the wireless connection DOES work if I close Zone Alarm! With it off, I can use my IE to surf and my OE to get emails. As soon as I put ZA back on, my IE and OE stop working.

So I think I need to find another free firewall that won't give me this problem.
