connect to internet with wireless laptop - help please
3 Answers
I have a packard bell imedia 1307, sitecom broadband router and advent wireless laptop. The PC is set up correctly to use internet and the network is available because the laptop can access fileson PC, however I have lost the ability to connect to the internet through the laptop. What settings do my laptop/pc need before I can get the internet to connect. I am getting various messages on the laptop ie server not found etc
Also I am trying to secure my network and it is asking for a WPA key in either ascii or hex format of 10 or 26 digits but wont accept any combination I choose, what does it need ? any help gratefully accepted thanks.

If it is then it may be safe to assume your laptops wireless settings are ok and would lead me to assume that the internet connection problem is the fault of the router, log into your router and check the settings, you may have to tell it that you wish to connect a wireless client which in this case is your laptop.
For the WPA PASK (wifi protected access pre shard key) go to this website>> http://www.kurtm.net/wpa-pskgen.
My advice is too copy and paste and save your key because you will need it to enter into your router and for each wireless client you wish to use wirelessly, also remember to change your routers default password to something else, I used the key generator for that too.

thank you for answer. Its model wl-114 v2 broadband router, and it was working last wednesday until I tried to enable the wireless security and started to fiddle with the settings. (will I ever learn). It connects perfectly to the PC throught the network but will not connect to the internet and I am lost as to what it needs. The PC connects to internet, but now I cannot connect to http://192.168.0.1 for ,u router settings.
