When you set up the router you can specify what channel to use (ie from 1 to 11). It is explained to use a different channel from other wireless networks in your vicinity. Where are these channels used? If all the channels are being used does this slow your internet connection?

This probably relates to the frequency that your wireless hub transmits/Recieves on. You have eleven channels to choose from so you dont want to be on the same channel as your neighbour is using or your equipment may be trying to connect to his broadband and vice versa. Imagine how a CB radio has 40 channels, If it only had one everyone would be talking over or interfering with each other.its the same thing with wireless broadband.

You might find that there is a wireless LAN setting on your router allowing automatic channel selection. This tries each channel until it finds one free from interference and with clear reception. I think this is a good idea; let the box of tricks do the hard work. If all your other devices are set to automatic scan they will detect your network and lock onto it. Simple, or what?

I can understand if they are all using wireless when there could be some disturbance between your adaptor and router but would it affect the overall speed down the BT line which I presume to be the most important?
