Can you use a wireless modem router to connect one desktop pc?
I want to put my pc in the loft but as this does not have a telephone socket I'll have to use a socket in a bedroom and connect the modem router to this and connect a USB adapter - but will this work or do you have to have the physical connection of an ethernet cable to the one & only pc?
Sorry if this sounds a bit daft!!

There is no need for a physical connection. follow the instructions on the router booklet and this will tell you how to plug in the cables from the phone line to the router. then how to set up your wireless network.

xp - have just spent 30 mins on the phone to Belkin's tech support. Apparently it's my pc that is the problem - ggrrr.
Have uninstalled & reinstalled USB software but the 'network connections' in Control Panel does not have any indication of a wireless network.
They advised me to try it on another pc - but as I only have one pc and won't getting a laptop until later in the year this seems rather pointless.Am going to take the USB adaptor back but will keep the modem router as it seems a faster connection than the sagem modem provided by tiscali.
Will probably end up getting a telephone socket fitted in the loft and connect with the ethernet cable :-(
Thank you for your help.
