The country setting for my modem keeps defaulting to CTR21 even when I change it to UK. After the changes are made I save them then restart my computer. When I check the settings it is back to CTR21. I know it's not a modem problem but I don't know whether it is Windows 98 or my computers settings that is causing this, any ideas?

Need a little more info to be more specific, but it could be that an initialization string is telling the modem to go back to the factory configuration settings. Your saving your changes to a user profile, but does the modem know to use that profile? In the advanced window of your modem properties window, there is a line for additional settings. One of them may be interfering or resetting the modem (i.e. commands starting with "Z" will tell the modem to reset....for example Z3 may be factory default profile number one and z2 may be user profile number two. Your modem may have more windows with more settings) Check your manual about things like resetting the modem or selecting default config. Good luck!
