Image Downloads Default to "untitled" bitmap - Solution?

Can anyone help with this problem? Often when I go to download a jpeg image (the url tells me it is a jpeg) the download defaults to an "untitled" bitmap image. Clearing the temporary files folder sometimes solves the problem but not always. Are there any other folders I should be emptying or any other obvious solutions I am missing.

Any help would be much appreciated.

are you right clicking on the image and selecting the 'save picture as ' option?
