My pal who lives on a farm has been told that as hes at the end of the telephone line that he cannot get broadband because the signal has degenerated by the time it gets to him.Hes on dial up at the moment.I rekon if you have got a telephone line you can get broadband,am i right???

usually on a company website there will be a post code search engine which gives a prompt indication of the broadband availability..

BT used to say that broadband services were not available to anyone more than 6km from the exchange. (That's following the route the cables take, not in a straight line). They've now removed that limit but approximately 0.2% of subscribers (i.e. about one house in every 500) are still beyond the reach of broadband services. See this (2004) press release from BT. Is cable an option? If he's in a cable enabled area, that will allow him to get broadband. He can check here:

He might have to for satellite broadband, if you get that in the UK! The problem with that is, the weather can have an effect on it.
