Unsecure wireless internet connection

A friend of mine has set up a wireless internet connection for his two laptops at home, but hasn't secured this connection and as a result his neighbour can use this connection.

Is it possible, at this stage, to secure his connection, or do I need to reinstall the whole thing for him. If it is possible, how can it be done?

He needs to enter his router, usually by typing in http:\\192.168.1.1 in the address bar of his Internet browser then enter a WEP code under a wireless section.

What is the make of the router, so you can be walked through this process?

To prevent any potential problems, connect the laptops to the router by ethernet cables before setting the security.

That way you won't be locking the laptops out of the network. You can of course disconnect the laptops afterwards.

WEP is the most basic of security keys, but the easiest to use.

WPA is the most secure. I get mixed up sometimes.
