Alternate web browsers? and spyware

Anybody got a list of websites for alternate web browsers? I want to give up IE and move to one that is not so vulnerable to spyware. Anyone know of any free programs that will stop spyware getting on your machine in the first place. there are plenty to remoce it once it is there but I have only found one to stop it installing in the first place

Well, Mozilla is free, available for most platforms, works (that's important!), has built-in pop-up blocking and easy cookie management, and even comes with a nifty web page editor that beats the hell out of MS FrontPage Express. I believe you can even import bookmarks and preferences from IE. http://www.mozilla.org

I think jenstar is right. I have tried alot of browsers and none of them compare to Mozilla. In addition to the pop-up blocker, the excellent editing capacity and the improved load times of website, there is an option for tabbed browsing. Where you can have multiple web sites open in one window, this makes for easier navigation. To obtain this you must install the tab browsing extension, which can be found on the mozilla website.

Can I stop users from changing the start page/ other settings on these? Can I put the favourites on a network drive and access them there?
