FTP/Linux guru needed
Hi all,
I am not a network expert (nor a Linux one) but I am not a nivoce either
However I am having some ftp problems that have me stumped
I run an ftp client on my Linux machine (actually a Tivo!)
I can open a remote server
I can change to an appropriate directory on that server
BUT when I try to "put" a file, the initial "PORT" command (which my ftp debug says is "PORT 192,168,0,222,4,181" - yes, 192.168.0.222 is the IP address of Tivo) it fails with
"421 No Transfer Timeout (300 seconds): closing control connection."
I have tried ftp'ing from my Windows pc and that works just fine, so I am fairly sure my ADSL router/firewall is configured to allow ftp packets out
What else can I look at to see why this PORT command is failing (and, out of interest, what is it DOING?)
Many thanks for any suggestions
