As of tonight every time I log onto the net (I'm with AOL) I get a pop up say that I need to download a file which is essential to my AOL connection. The file is titled AOLDNLD.EXE. Is this safe? Surely AOL would send an email if they wanted me download updates?

It is the AOL download utility - there are many reasons why you need to donload it - one being you have inadvertently removed it from your hard drive or corrupted it in some way
