You could try looking up "anonymous proxys" on Google. I don't plan on going into any more details on a public website.
www.kproxy.com will do the trick

thanks for those suggestions, it's not for anything dodgy, I just want to be able to listen to live UK football commentary and watch shows from the BBC on the I-Player.

cheers
Actually that is a dodgy reason - the website is barred to people outside the UK.

:) But it's not sinister dodgy

I tried kproxy.com this morning, trying to listen to the BBC Radio5 Live commentary for the Spain v Russia game and had no luck.

Listening to BBC Radio is not an issue from New Zealand, but listening to live sporting events is.

Any more suggestions?

cheers
in theory what you are trying to do is possible.. however:

Most public proxy servers are too slow and overloaded to stream media properly, especially the free ones.

Most proxy servers (free or not) only have a limited "life span" as sites like the BBC soon work out they are proxies and pretty quickly ban them.

Your best bet is, if you know somebody in the UK with a decent connection see if you can ask them to install some proxy software on their computer and then use that as your own private proxy.
