virus checker website
Some time ago I came across a website where you could enter the name of another website and it would tell you if the website you were thinking of opening was a known virus carrier. Have now forgotten the name of site. Can anybody refresh my memory please?

If you do a Google search for example and get a list of results then Link Scanner will put a tick against the ones that are OK and let you know the ones that are dodgy.
You can download the free AVG 8 from here

This may be worth looking at, I works great for me.
When using a search engine, this FREE download places a green tick or red cross against every website, indicating whether it is safe to open or not.

Thanks to you both.
vehelpfulguy - it wasn't another virus checker to install on the pc, but a stand alone website which listed viruses and websites which carried them. So you could just put in the name of the site you were thinking of opening and it would tell you if it was a known carrier before you opened it.
A bit of a roundabout way to see if there was a virus, but better safe than sorry!
I use AVG so will look for the way to get the ticks, also will look at the download for Firefox
