I have just had a message flash up from AVG to say that it has detected a trojan downloader in a file on my PC so I pressed the buttons and it is now in the virus vault.
What I don't understand is that the file it thinks is a trojan, is a game that I have installed on my PC and which has been installed for over 2 years!!
Is it likely to be a trojan and if so, why has it only just noticed? I like playing this game so don't want to get rid of it if I don't have to! I've played it loads before and never had any problems :-?
as threats are identified they are added to the list
on the other hand ... sometimes a signature is either a false positive, a version checker
if the game was bought ... it's probably a false positive
if it was downloaded wink wink - it's probably for real
greeting cards, games and screensavers are all favourites
It was downloaded from a link passed on by a mate whose brother bought it on Ebay - or something like that :-)
I just thought it was strange how I've had it installed and have ben playing it for over 2 years now and had no problems.
Am I safe to restore it from the virus vault do you think? It says that the file is BigKahunaReef2.exe (which is the game) and it says it is a Trojan Horse Downloader.Agent.AVKP
