Do I have to log in to this site with my user name etc whenever I want to answer a question when I've asked to be 'remembered.' ?

Anything I can do about it or am I just not wanted ?

If you select 'remember me', AB places a cookie on your PC, which it recognises on your next visit. Have you, perhaps, got your browser set to 'clear private data' when you close it? If so, either deselect that option or change the settings so that cookies are retained (while other data is deleted).

Thanks, Chris , but how, in simple terms, do I do what you suggest ?

Are you using IE or Firefox?
Question Author
Sorry. IE.
I'm hoping that Ethel can provide the answer to your problem because I use Firefox. The version of IE on my computer is IE5 which doesn't have the facility to automatically delete personal data, which Firefox does (and I'm guessing that later versions of IE also do). However, it might be worth looking under Tools > internet Options to try to find the right setting.

Alternatively, do what the vast majority of the 'regulars' around here did ages ago and ditch Internet Explorer. Nearly everyone around here uses either Firefox or Chrome. I strongly recommend giving Firefox a try:

I have now installed Firefox so have access to IE as well.

Still being asked to log in when I want to post an answer, even though I have ticked the 'remember me on this computer' box. What can I do to stop this incumbrance ?
