need help ; cannot open attachments

it is probably an easy fix ,but its driving me up the wall. (vista basic,office 2007 installed)used to be no prob but now i cannot open any attachments on my tiscali messages.... shows file download box ,doing nothing ..if i ask to save as, says "internet explorer cannot download, no such interface supported".... is there a fix to this .?.(just to add, recently installed McAfee security) any info would be greatly appreciated.thanks
