Firefox problem

I use Firefox most of the time and, until recently, have been happy with it. However, lately it has started to close down whenever I click on a link from another place, eg. an email.
This is very frustrating but also means I have no other way of gaining access to the required information.

Thanks in advance to you knowledgeable people.

mine started doing the same about 4 days ago, does it go to a report window where you can send the report to firefox? It drove me mad and so i have switched back to IE, but firefox works fine on my son's profile on this same computer, and so why it has started acting up on my profile i just don;t know, it's weird
Go to TOOLS-ADD ONS-PLUG INS and look to see if you have "Ask toolbar" installed, if you have make sure it's disabled. It's poorly written and has been causing many problems in FF.

Thank you both for replying. Dabees, I have checked as you suggested but I don't have that.
Is FF set as your default browser?

Vascop, it is just now but I was going to change it to IE to try and download until I can find out the reason for the problem on MF. Thank you.

I have managed to fix the problem!!! Not bad for a non-technical OAP. I removed Firefox totally from my system then installed the newest version and this has done the trick and I now have the information I wanted.

Thanks to everyone for their assistance.
I'm pleased that you've fixed the problem, Filibuster, but if you experience any further problems with Firefox please try reinstalling it 'on top of itself' (i.e. without uninstalling it first). That fixes almost all problems with Firefox and means that you don't lose your bookmarks and personal settings.

Hmmm,I think I might just do that myself as well.
Thanks for that Chris.
I will subscribe to this question just for reference purposes.
So,I won't forget what to do.
Thanks again.

Thank you, Chris, I'll keep a note of that but hope I won't need it in future.
Hmm.I'm not sure how you reinstall Firefox Chris.
You can see I'm a bit of an amateur at these kind of things.
I know most stuff, but when it comes to technical things like this I am quite a novice. So,i hope you haven't disappeared just yet.I can get rid of Firefox no problem using the Add/remove programs utility. There is no uninstall/reinstall on my Firefox file.
Please help if you can.Thanks.Any help much appreciated....
imhotep, just download it again, without doing anything else.

Imhotep:
Hc4361 has kindly answered your question but, if you didn't delete the original Firefox installation download from your PC, you won't even need to download it again.

Simply go to the Firefox Setup file (which you originally downloaded), double-click on the icon and just let Firefox reinstall itself.
Many thanks for the helpful advice Chris and hc4361.
Cheers!! You're both saviours.
If I could give you three stars,I would.
:-)
