Hi, My 60day McAfee subscription is nearing its deadline and I definitely want to re-subscribe. However, just to complicate things I have seen McAfee protection for 3 pcs on offer which would be fantastic for me but I am unsure what to do about the 60 day subscription I already have on my laptop. Do I simply buy the protection for 3 pc's, uninstall Norton from my computer and download McAfee (this bit sounds quite straight forward) but what do I do about the 60 day McAfee subscription already on my laptop, do I uninstall that too then download the new McAfee protection or would the new downloaded McAfee overwrite it? Sorry if this is confusing...I am really confused...and I need all the help I can get, please help!

>uninstall Norton from my computer

Part way through you mention "Norton", was that a mistake?
I find that as a general rule it is best to uninstall the previous piece of software, THEN REBBOT, then install the new software.

This is true of all software, not just McAfee or other security software.

While new software SHOULD overwrite old software OK it can cause problems so I feel it is always best to remove the old software first.
the old package should take the new key - that's all you need ... unless the new package is an updated version

download - disconnect pc from network
uninstall - reboot - install new - done

Hi, thank you to everyone who has taken the time to answer my question.
VHG: I have a pc which has Norton already as its protection (which is due to expire within the next 3 months) but as I much prefer McAfee I was going to replace the Norton when I buy the McAfee for 3 PCs.
Hope this extra info helps x
