Norton 360 Version 3...Help Needed Please!

Hi, I brought a brand new laptop and Norton 360 Version 3 disc for it. I didn't realise you had to be connected to the internet when you installed Norton and went through the instructions and typed in the product key off line. I thought it was all done but in the bottom right hand corner of the desktop it comes up saying its not switched on. I went on the internet and realised you need to be online to activate it but the trouble is when I re-try doing it while online it says another version of Norton is already on the laptop and to uninstall it the computer needs to be restarted to continue with the new installation. However, when you re-start the laptop it continually comes up with the same message to re-start the computer to uninstall the previous Norton. So I can't install it properly and I have been into Control Panel to try to uninstall it myself but its not in there.

Can anyone please help?

I had problems installing Norton 360 and I rang the helpline, they couldn't have been more helpful.
