Putting 'links' into emails/web sites?

From a PC dinosaur !! , how do I put 'links' into emails, or like the 'informed' ones do on this site. I know it was explained after a previous question some time ago ,but I really did not understand it. In simple terms please. Any help really appreciated.

If you want a single word/phrase to be the link, for example 'Click here', where the 'here' is the link here's how to do it-
1. Type the word(s)
2. Highlight the part you want to be a link
3. Right click on the highlighted word
4. Choose 'Hyperlink' from the drop down menu
5. Type in the address of the website you want a link to in the address part near the bottom of the window.
6. Click OK

Apologies, that may only work on Microsoft programmes,
If you are using Hotmail as your email provider the icon to insert a link is just above where you type the message and is a little world with a chain in front of it, not sure about other providers

Many thanks, This is far to advanced for a 'pea-brain' like me . I have never had a PC tutorial , so do not realy understand a word your saying . I suppose I'll just have to try to explain to others what sites to look at. Kind Regards , Gary

Or really simple.

Get the website
Highlight address
copy
paste where you want

Easier way. Double click on the website address in the address box at the top of your screen. This will highlight the address.
Right click on your mouse. Select COPY.
To insert the address into an email/Answerbank answer just right click on your mouse and select PASTE.
Try it.
e.g. http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Technology/Inte rnet/Question793988.html

Thanks all, i'll print this for future consideration, I understand the principle but may have to send a few to myself to get it to work, . At 57 and med retired /disabled with no social circle all PC, 'improvements ' take me some time Thanks again for taking the time to answer.

Take your mouse
Hover over the address line above (or any web page address)
Left click - it is now highlighted
Right click - and move down to copy and left click
Go to where you want to put this
Right click - and move down to paste and left click

Done
This is what others have said but wanted to try to make it even simpler maybe.

Just try it now -
Start a reply to your own question,
Double click on the address bar (www. answerbank....) to highlight the address ,
Right click on your mouse and select COPY (which will copy the address onto your clipboard),
Then in the reply box you need to right click on your mouse and select PASTE to paste the address into your reply.

Try it now. Once done, try doing it with an email. Once you've done a couple you'll not forget how to do it.

Many Thanks AC, that's very kind of you. I ve printed it out and it is really easy to follow. Something else 'mastered'. I think I'll have a go at the crossword now ! Thanks again
