Email going from Tiscali In Box into Outlook Express

I had a lot of mail in my In Box but I opened Internet Explorer and when I went back onto Tiscali, all my email from my In Box had disappeared, there is still mail in my sent box but the other mail has transferred into Outlook Express. How can I prevent this happening all the time as it happens every single time that I open Internet Explorer for any reason?

Hi Zacsmaster,
I'm not very computer literate so you'll have to excuse me if I sound thick, I have heard of POP but have no idea what the settings should be or how to check them and change them if they need changing, so any assistance will help as I have just been into Outlook Express and I had over 100 emails in it, the majority I hadn't even read as they had transferred across before I had a chance to read them. J

I have finally resolved the problem this morning, it appears that there was no tick in the "leave a copy of messages on the server"
