can anyone tell me why my WLAN and LAN green lights flash twice every 3 seconds, it's cable connected but my wi-fi is on for my iphone but this still happens when my phone is off and my router wi-fi is properly secured with a strong password
is this normal?

Doesn't sound unusual to me, the wifi will be sending out a few packets every few seconds as it broadcasts it's SSID and LANs send out broadcast messages every few seconds.

If you log into the routers admin page you should be able to check all devices currently connected to the router for peace of mind
