Facebook scam?

i received an email today which looked exactly like the facebook page, telling me I had 3 messages waiting. When i clicked on the logo, it showed me an advert from a Canadian company offering certain blue pills. Whats this all about?

Never had that, sounds like a spammer to me!

It probably the blue pill you need to take before login on to Facebook, and the Canadian company is offering it cheaper than Facebook.

Another thing, the date of the email is 1 December, which makes me think it has come from somewhere in the world it is already Wednesday - am I right?

Ignore the email then when you next log into FB, remove all your applications and change your password (for double security)

I've had emails saying so and so has sent me a message but I don't have any of the names mentioned as friends. They all turn up in my junk mail so I just delete them.

I've had a couple of emails claiming to be from Facebook and directing me to very dubious sites, they just dress them up and make them look convincing but send you somewhere quite different, it's nothing at all to do with Facebook and just imitating their style to suck people in.

A con, mark it as spam, get rid of it, clear your cookies and never open anything like it again.
If it asked you for your username and password, you've probably heen hacked (in Facebook) in which case you need to change your password immediately.

You will now get loads more spam. Never click on any links in spam emails.

A genuine email will be addressed to you personally rather that just "Dear member". It will also come from a genuine site rather than www.facebook.zzfsyt.cn or similar

And if in doubt, don't bother clicking on the link. Just type in the full address in your browser as usual. If it is genuine, then the messages will be there waiting for you.
