Is this email genuine?

I've received a few of these in my Windows Live inbox over the past few days which reads:


This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.
Delivery to the following recipients failed.

[email protected]
jux.com



The email is addressed from [email protected] so I thought it may be genuine but the weird link above ([email protected]) confuses me.

There are also 2 attachments, named ATT00022.dat and ATT00024.eml; what are these attachments?

Any answers would be appreciated.

Yeah, I wasn't going to but can anyone shed some light as to how the email came from [email protected]? I've never heard of, let alone sent an email to, [email protected].

The address any email shows as coming from (on casual checking) is typed in by the user that sent it and they can type any address they want.

If you check the header you can see the real return path and I'd bet it's nothing to do with hotmail at all.

Chuck is correct. I had hours of fun sending a friend emails appearing as though they were from Tony Blair a couple of years back.
