bf turned the laptop on this morning it a sony vpcef2e1e and he said as soon as the screen came on it said 'rearranging your desktop' all the pictures and files on the desktop then disappeared and then it wouldn't allow internet access until we click agree on a google chrome pop up with look genuine, he asked me to look so I click agree and then find all my files on the desktop have gone, so it was either the desktop rearrange of the google chrome thing that has messed with them, looked everywhere and cannot find any of my files...

have they all been deleted? or have the been put somewhere else, there was no warning that it would delete anything from start up, even the google agreement has deleted all my internet homepage's, history, cookies etc.

Please help

Thanks in advance

Try System Restore.
call up original browser install as homepage again and delete google chrome... your files will still be in the hard drive but will probably have to be dragged/sent back to desktop again...
