But how do I find out if my new little net book has DDR2 or DDR3 memory?-without having to take anything apart(I am still a little scared of it) but was reading on the tutorial that the memory can be updated.
Much Thanks

Reboot it and enter the BIOS setup screens before the operating system boots. Depending on the make and model, you'll probably do that by hitting either the F2 key or the Del key.

Use the scanner (though it's probably DDR2

Download and run SiSoftware Sandra Lite. (It's a free program which delves into the darkest corners of your computer and reports on what it finds):

That might tell you what you need to know.

If you mention the make and model of the netbook there are numerous people (including myself) that are good with google and will be able to find the answer in a few minutes. (or just try it yourself)

As well as Chris's suggestion you can download another analysis package called SIW by Topala Software. If you run this and check memory it should tell you. It is free.
