Hi, I hope someone can help, I've just done a scan of my laptop using AVG (free), It has found a virus infecting a number of files, i think its called 'JavaByteVerify'. I'm running Windows XP Home with SP2. It does'nt seem to be affecting anything, but AVG can't remove it ??.......any help would be much appreciated.......................Thanks

I found answers to this on another forum whilst searching....

download a antivirus program called "cwshredder"

go to start/control panel/java plugin. When that pops up, click the "cache" tab, then click "clear" on the right side, then yes on the conformation. That SHOULD take care of the javabyteverify. It also would not be a bad idea to disable system restore and then reenable it incase system restore also has javabyteverify in it.

The file may not be able to be removed as you have 'system restore' switched on.  As palfreyman18 said, it's a good idea to disable it, then run AVG.  The other possibilty is that it is embedded into a CAB file (not sure how to remove the file from there).
