dyson never cease to amaze me with tier overpriced over style machines and now their announcing a new mini sweeper with wait fir it a "digital motor" please enlighten me to what this is ?? i never knew the old motors were "analogue" lol

As I understand it, the Dyson Digital motor doesn't have carbon brushes like a conventional motor but uses pulsed electricity to spin the commutator. As there is no friction the motor can spin at over 100,000 rpm and therefore pump the air faster through the machine and give better suction. Also, it has no brushes to wear out.

Mine is a bit like Triggers broom, it's an original one over 10 years I'm sure, but nearly every part has been replaced at some point! Still going strong though and I have 2 kids and a dog to hoover up after!

I'm pro-Dyson, too - have two, which are both 5 years old and have performed faultlessly. As G-W says the new-style motor is something different in home equipment and you do pay a premium for "cutting-edge" technology.

Dyson just re-inventing the wheel again for t catch some sales.
Nothing new. Nor is the technology particularly (although they would like you to think it was)
Brushless (inductance, for instance) motors have been around for years.

Many people don't want though .. I must say that new cleaner looks like it would smash to pieces if it went down the stairs .. like a normal Dyson does.
