Footnotes of Word

Is there a way I can just get a footer to appear on page. Or is there another to insert a foot note to an essay that just needs to appear on one page?

If you want a footnote go to Insert > Footnote

Footers appear on all pages, the first page only, all pages but the first or odd and even pages.

If you want a footer on a single page you would need to insert a section break either side of that page and then switch off the same as previous attribute in that page's footer.

Try looking up section breaks in the online help in Word. There's some good info in there.
