Another stupid question .......

Does anybody know about freezers?
I defrosted mine this evening. Some of the sheets of ice were nearly three inches thick and about the size of my keyboard. Might have been overdue for a thaw.
After underestimating the amount of water in the freezer I managed to flood out the kitchen.
It is now plugged back in and all the lights that should be on are lit up. But it is making noises - sort of banging noises. Do you think that it is safe for me to go to bed?

I need the freezer up and running for tomorrow. I don't like the sound of the noises either - but I admit that it has settled down a bit. It has always been a noisy freezer.
I can't believe the huge chunks of ice that came out of it - flooded the floor out too.
If you hear of any mysterious explosions in Scotland you will think kindly of me.
Night all.
