Installed another dvd drive but sound still very bad
2 Answers
Hallo, this is a topic I raised a few weeks back, CD plays great but the dvd drive very bubbly sound the worst is in VLC. I installed the exact dvd drive LG model no but there is no change.Tried to get an update for my C.media AC97 but the manufaturers dont recognise that number anymore and I dont know if that is the problem anyway.
I want to try the drive I took out in another computer that has never had a dvd installed.
It has a cd ribbon cable connection to the hard disk and then on to the motherboard and a separate ribbon floppy disk connection straight to the motherboard.
Could I use the floppy disk connection for the dvd or is it different.
If not I suppose I could unplug the cd one and try that. Thanks for any help

On the computer with the bad sound have you tried reinstalling the DVD codecs again? the Klite codec pack contains the correct codecs.

(keep an eye on the options during install, you don't need to install media player classic, everything else can be kept as standard)
Either that, or try playing some DVDs using something like VLC player that doesn't use the main system codecs.

Hallo Chuck, thanks for the floppy info, I will try the CD cable later when I set it up.
My system has K-Lite codec 710 standard. Media player Classic 3.3.9. VLC 1.1.9
Real Alt. 1.8.0 and DVX. The K.lite is via the classic. I have just found out that opening
the k.lite setup again which is in 'downloads' It advises me to uninstall the media player codec pack 3.3.9 as they have similarities. Am I losing anything doing this ?
Also when I installed K.lite I was shown 2 big columns to pick and choose from in video and audio as I had no idea what to pick I left it as it was.
I dont know if this is the problem but remember that I get even worse bubbly speech and crackles on VLC. The CD is great.
Thanks for your help.
