windows xp reformatting?

i have just reformatted my boyfriends pc. His system is quite old and had windows ME on it. I have done what i thought was reformatted it, i put windows XP on, but now its got XP and ME. How do i get rid of windows ME from the pc?

The cleanest way is to install XP from the disc again and ensure that the hard drive is formatted before installation. When asked where you want to install XP to you should be given the option of choosing one particular partition and formatting it
