Test area
4 Answers
Hi ed
Would it be possible to create a sort of 'sandpit' area on AB where users could practise using the site without getting things muddled up on other threads. Things like posting links and embedding video clips which sometimes cause problems could be learned here.
The area could be wiped clean regularly if desired.

It's the endless optimism like this which gets me through the day!
Scotsman. It is a nice idea. I think it might be a better idea to funnel new users into a tutorial/FAQ page before allowing them to proceed into the main site. The real problem is: new users don't know the etiquette of the site - but by adding a test area we're creating another piece of etiquette they're not going to know about, might be creating further problems here?

good point ed...if they dont bother to read the faqs then they wont understand that either.
maybe there could be some sort of 'questionaire style faqs that they have to go through before being given immediate access...just have to tick each faq which then opens the next one, then the next and each one gets a tick.
though some would just tick randomly as fast as poss, some might read it...
or you could have them ahve to type a single word answer that is contain amidst the text somewhere...?
