removing sample pics etc from blackberry 8900...?

the pics etc seem to be locked for some reason, and will not allow removal... why BB think anyone would want to keep the pile of crap they put on there is beyond me, but to no allow removal and clog up peoples phones with it is ridiculous - there must be some way to get rid...

i did find a guide of how to do it, but it was very complicated and involved reformatting and reinstalling OS, which is a palava

does anyone know how to remove the lock?
