sound effects editing software

i write plays for community radio and believe there are free software packages that can allow me to edit sound effects and music. i would be grateful if someone could suggest where i could download these packages. TIA.

One package for editing used a lot is Audacity. I don't know the best site but someone will post it for you.

I don't think there is one you can print, but there is a lot of information on the web site,

The manual is there to read, the tutorials can be very good and if you really get stuck there is always the forum.

I did find one somewhere that I downloaded. It was stored as a pdf document. Possibly it was Buenchico who gave me the link.

Just to point out that if you want to save your Audacity files in MP3 format you need to install the LAME encoder. There is info and link for that in the question in linked to earlier.

Audacity is a nice free audio editing software, you can use google to search for it.

Or you may try this video editing program. I always use it to edit video and audio, works pretty well
