Funny line on screen

Hi..I have a new Toshiba 660 laptop and part way down the left of the screen is a white line about 2mm wide which when approached with the pointer brings out a row of icons to do with the camera settings.......Any one else noticed this ; more to the point how can I remove it?...Most annoying, like a lot of the Toshiba pre-loaded stuff.

Help most appreciated...commoner.
