They could, of course, simply ask someone else who has you on their contact list if you are online and find out that way.

Yes there is a way around this.  I will not post the site to this software but if you do a google search for MSN Block checker you will find a lot of sites. 

I admit a lot of the sites are old and the software does not work, but the ones from the nederlands work perfectly fine.
