Are lithium AA batteries rechargeable and if so do I need a special charger?

Commonly available lithiums are not rechargeable - it would have that word on the battery sleeve if they were.

....but laptops and mobiles do use rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, of course, but rather different to AA !

As above, Lithium Ion AA's are researchable, but you would require a suitable device.

Just googled this http://www.smallbatte...uk/sbc_aa_lithium.htm and they would have you believe no such product exists.
Strange that a charger for AA lithium Ion batteries does then?
I don't know where you'd find them but I'm certain they'd be very expensive.

I suspect that it's one of those "refresher" things that might get some extra use out of ordinary lithiums - wouldn't trust it myself!

Maplin used to sell what they purported to be rechargeable Lithium Ion AA's I see they have since withdrawn the product. You're probably right Gingejbee.

Thanks a lot for your replies. I have found some rechargeable ones, but they are £13.69
each, plus you need a special charger. Don't think I will bother in that case.

Radio Times offer page 146:£14.95+£1.95 pp. you can recharge ord AA and AAA
batteries again and again. After just four uses the charger will have paid for itself. I`m quoting from the ad.
