Any picture on the internet can normally be saved to your hard drive simply by right-clicking on it, and then selecting 'Save image as' (or whatever similar wording your choice of browser uses). Once an image is on your computer, you can then upload it to your own Facebook site.
If Facebook blocks 'right-clicking', you can still save any internet image by using a screen capture. The easiest way to do that is to use a utility such as ScreenPrint32, which lets you select the exact part of the screen which you want:

Unfortunately not, as far as I know, Tamborine. I was typing rather slowly (and defrosting a meal at the same time!) so Sherr's post wasn't there when I started mine.
Since Facebook's Java application is designed to allow you to search for pictures on a hard drive (or external drive, such as a USB memory stick), Sherr will need to use some form of 'normal' computer. I'm surprised, however, that her laptop doesn't like pictures. I remain reasonably confident that she should be able to save them to its hard drive or, if not, to a media stick plugged into a USB port.

Since you don't need to view the photos on your laptop to do the transfer, the availability (or otherwise) of an image-viewing program is completely irrelevant. You can still save the a picture to your hard drive (even if you can't view it) and then upload it to the web (e.g. to Facebook), where you will be able to see it.
However, if you want a decent (free) image viewing & manipulation program, this is what you need:
