hacked???

When I close my pc down a box comes up saying closing hidden window.

The windows name is "shellicon".

Does anyone know what this is?

And can I get rid of it. (please bear in mind I am an idiot and thus need in in laymans terms!)

Which operating system do you have (e.g. Windows 98, Windows XP...)?

Sounds like a bit of spyware, go to the link and download spybot, this should get rid of any unwanted dross.

I have windows XP.

 

And John I've got Bt's Anti-spy and when I run that nothing comes up, is Spybot better?

I use it all the time, and it's totally free to download.

Thanks john it did come up with 3 items and got rid of them.

Unfortunately the message is still there when I close my Pc, I think it may be harmless and something to do with a system fault as the only files I can find on my pc relevant to "shell" is a word file called winword8.

if thats makes sense to anyone let us know.Thanks

Delete Iconcache.db under c:\Documents and Setttings\owner\Local Settings\Application Data to get rid of Shellicon Hidden window
