When the analog signal is switched off, will I still be able to view anything that was recorded from an analog source?

Thanks deggers so you are saying it will be in digital on my hardrive, tape or removable disc
if you've recorded sometihing on to a tape, say, and you've got a VHS player that plays it now, it will still be able to do so.
No. Not exactly... (it will be digital on a hard drive, analogue on a video) but that's totally irrelevant.

Your recorder of any sort is connected to your TV by a cable, it does not rely on a radio transmission of any sort, a signal being switched off at a transmitter miles from your house isn't going to effect devices connected by a cable in your front room any more than it will effect your ketttle!

Thanks also jno and Chuck for your answers, they have put my mind at rest, I feared I would loose some valuable recordings.
