dvd rewriter (I think that's what it is)

My dvd player on desktop is not working properly for recording progs that i have downloaded. It takes sometimes 6 attempts before it will record., I bought an external one for my laptop,which works fine, so could I just plug it into an usb port on desktop and record on it? Thanks for help.

Know of no reason why not. Give it a try.

Sounds like your old drive is in need of replacement. Possibly a head problem. (Not yours.) Once upon a time it was worth getting things serviced, but not in today's 'throw away' society.
